Bleach. I love the smell of bleach. Clean freak chic?!

Also, fellow lip gloss hoarder here. The moment I reach into my purse, they disappear. Am I such an aggressive searcher that they fall out without me knowing? Do I stick them in pockets or jackets and forget? I'm a pretty organized human until it comes to those damn things.

This is hilarious and I had never thought of it, but I do love me some bleach smell whenever I encounter it. I'll buy some of that.

I feel this so so so deeply. Sometimes I have ten in my purse, other times I can’t find any and they’re all gone. How and why is beyond me. Sometimes they reappear. There’s definitely a little pixie in a pool filled with stolen peptide plumping gloss somewhere.

I love that thought haha!

I love the smell of a pool, (because summer, I guess, its cold here?) so I get that.

Sara's avatar

Yes and yes. The smell of childhood holidays and suncream!

Jane Pratt's avatar

I want to call it suncream from now on, thanks to you. That's so much cuter than sunscreen!

Gasoline and sharpie markers - love those smells.

Sara's avatar

Sharpie markers, I honestly kind of get it.

Summer smells like Hawaiian Tropica dark tanning oil and chlorine, with a dash of lake water and Deep Woods Off. 🙂

Sara's avatar

I love this combo!

Rin's avatar

Yes, spray me with chlorine smell. Definitely on my list!

WHERE DO THEY GO? I’m convinced there’s a secret passageway somewhere. Full of lippies…and kirby grips.

I love Fischersund perfumes. "Fresh coat of varnish on a wooden shed." "A beached whale is about to explode." What?!

At first I only bought the sampler set because Christina Hendricks said she wears No. 23, but I am now a fan of unconventional fragrances. Get the Light and Dark sampler sets!

Jane Pratt's avatar

I have never heard of these, and I will check them out based on those titles alone. Thank you!

Sara's avatar

If Christina Hendricks wears it, I’m intrigued!

I love the smell of rain and wish I could find a perfume that really captures it. So many of them have a weird powdery finish that I can't stand.

I've been looking for a signature scent but haven't quite found "the one" yet. I do love "Every Storm a Seranade" by Imaginary Authors and "1899" by Histoires de Parfums. I just recently purchased "Shitty Day" and I'm not sure about it. I really hope to find something that smells like an old fashioned tobacco shop - not straight up cigarette smell but the spicy, kind of woody smell.

And no horrible powdery finish.

I'm just amazed at how educated you all are about fragrances! You're blowing me away. I can't wait for Sara to get in here and speak your language with you. In the meantime, I wish I knew what the smell of rain was, but I can't put a smell to it. I used to know someone who naturally smell like sand and I liked that. That's my little contribution!

Sara's avatar

I will have to investigate the first two!

I’m guessing you’ve probably tried Margiela Replica Jazz Club in your cigar room search. It’s the first other scent that came to mind that fits the description.

I also have an inordinate number of lip products in my purse, my makeup organizer, bathroom, nightstand...they're everywhere. And all of them are different in shades, shine, resilience, etc.

Scent is so personal. I've had a signature since 2002. My best friend has SHELVES of perfumes; there is a new scent every day, layering, creating new combinations out of an untold number of perfumes. I find it so fascinating to hear how other people relate to scents, how they find their way to the ones that speak to them.

Sara's avatar

When I was younger, I used to switch up my perfumes every 6 months and then I’d tend to not revisit them again for a while so that the memories stay with the scent. I feel that strong emotional connection so well 💖

Jane Pratt's avatar

Having the memories stay with the scent in an intentional way is something I've never heard of and brilliant. Further proof that you are in exactly the right role as a beauty guru.

As a man in the household here, and my wife read me this piece out loud, I think of a girl in the bar smelling so odd and mysterious: where am I? What’s happening? Where shall we go?

Jane Pratt's avatar

Wow, that's precisely the reaction I think any woman in a bar would want her fragrance to spark.

Sara's avatar

I’d be inclined to follow all of the weird/glorious smelling humans! In a non creepy way. Or maybe a creepy way.

I think you’ll love D.S. & Durga. Notorious OUD, Brown Flowers, and Pistachio are some recent faves from them. Superb home and car fragrances, too (Breakfast Leipzig, Tuberose Myrrhder).

Jane Pratt's avatar

This is making me realize how woefully undereducated I am about scents. When Sara comes to check in here, I'll be interested to see how many of these she knows already. XO.

Sara's avatar

Oh yes! They are wonderful too, and should have also made the list! I love that they have one named “Debaser”.

Alyssa Palombino's avatar

I used up the whole bottle of Debaser last year! Another good one.

These are great! Fresh cut grass seems good too and maybe that boardwalk smell. It’s a little raunchy but it still makes me happy.
