Hello loveliest people!
You already know that Christina Kelly is my favorite writer. And I know that I am not the only one (special shout-out to the fantastic subscriber who routinely cancels her AJPT subscription citing her reason as “Not Enough Christina” and I agree!). I don’t want to set expectations by telling you that this story made me cry more than once (three times), if you, like me, enjoy that sort of thing. But it did. And did again each time I reread it. I think it’s simply beautiful.
Christina’s birthday is on Monday (thus birthday weekend starting tomorrow), so please wish her the happiest one and thank her for everything she has written for me and you in her inimitable (though many have tried) voice all these years in Sassy and Jane and AJPT and all the other lucky places that have published her. I love her and I love you. I also LOVE editing her and I am going to come back and show you some of the editing process for this story as soon as I publish this and then get it together. Stay tuned and ENJOY!
Love love, Jane

My grandfather was an old, old man when he turned 64. Sitting at the kitchen table in his Bronx apartment on his birthday, I sang the Beatles song to him. “When I get older, losing my hair, many years from now…” I was about 14 years old, and I adored my Grandpa, George Burr.
I’ll turn 64 on Monday.
